When i went off plaquenil i got fevers

After the fevers I get severe chilblains on my fingers, ears and toes. This I have always attributed to the Raynauds I was diagnosed with as a child.

Hi sorry for late reply ive been unwell. my reaction to Plaquinil happened within 2 weeks of starting it I got a sore throat then a fever I thought it was a cold but it got Worse then I ended up in hospital with a 42c 108f fever and massive ulcers in my mouth & throat, I was on an iv fluid for a few days and unable to eat solids for weeks. the reaction was called a Stevens Johnson reaction. May 05, 2016 Plaquenil was originally developed in the 1940's and used most often for treating or preventing malaria, which is spread by mosquitoes and can cause fever, chills, and a flu like illness. I don't know for sure if it is the plaquenil or other meds but my rheumy seems to have my inflammation/stiffness under pretty good control. Been taking plaquenil and arava for about a year. Just rediced plaquenil from one tablet twice a day to one tablet once a day. I also take Cimzia injections bi-weekly but that has only been for about 6 months.

So the reason for the post is to know if anyone here has had similar issues with unexplained fevers that cause chilblains? They typically form in the evenings and hurt like hell. It very mild case that is actually more sensitive to heat then cold.

  3. Jan 11, 2012 So that's the update. The lesson here is - for those who need to go off plaquenil, be careful about just going off it cold turkey. Obviously some of CAN do that, but if you don't know if you're one of them - better to be on the safe side and wean slowly. Take it from me! I am feeling much better after bumping my dose back up over the last few.

Oct 22, 2019 In 2002 I got a new doctor that diagnosed me with SLE and started me on plaquenil. I don't remember exactly how long it took but after some months the fever went down. I have always had fatigue after my first flare and joints and muscle pain every day along with many respiratory infections and skin rashes. But the fever has stayed away. When you have lupus, something happens to your body’s natural defense system your immune system to make it work incorrectly. Instead of only targeting bad things like viruses and bacteria, it also attacks healthy cells and tissues. There are several types of lupus, and every case is different. I am just now coming off 300 mg Plaquenil after 9 years as it is likely causing bone marrow failure -- another very rare reaction. I wonder, now that it is more prescribed and has been for over a decade, if more of us will see previously unknown ill effects.

Stopping Plaquenil - General Discussion - Life With Lupus I was put on Plaquenil for RA as I was being dx for lupus. I am very mild. My rhuemy wants me to stop every time I have an infection. When it is gone she said I can resume at my own pace. Take into consideration I only take Plaquenil and ibuprofen 800mg. My symptoms came back after two weeks of being off it.

How long until Plaquenil started working?
